When should I book my flight?Paragliding is weather dependent, to avoid disappointment we highly recommend that you rather book paragliding for the beginning of your trip in Cape Town. That way we can advise on the best days to fly and find an alternative date incase the day you wanted to fly is not flyable because of bad weather. Contact us in the beginning and we will find you a timeslot according to your schedule.

Do you accept Card Payments?We do have card facilities on site. Payments can be done either with Cash or Card on the day that you come for the flight.

What is the minimum age for paragliding?The minimum age for paragliding in South Africa is 14 years.

Where will I leave my stuff during the flight?There is a backpack on the back of the harness, we can fit small backpacks, handbags and valuables into the backpack. Your possessions will fly down with you and your instructor will check that you have everything back after the flight.

Do you offer paraglide flight every day of the week?We operate 7 days a week. Paragliding is weather dependent and we only offer flights on days that we can fly safely. The best days are usually the day after it rained. The best times to fly are mostly during the middle of the day. We operate from sunrise to sunset, sunrise flights are more common than sunset flights because there is often strong winds in the afternoons. For the best chance to fly book for the late morning.

Is paragliding safe?Paragliding with an instructor in good weather and wind is safe. All pilots who fly for Sky Safari Paragliding in Cape Town have over 10 years of experience in paragliding and have done thousands of flights. Doing a paraglide flight with an experienced instructor is safe and fun and we would not want any of our clients to get injured during a flight.

Do you offer instructional tandem paraglide flights?All our flights are done with training in mind. Sky Safari Paragliding is a registered paragliding school in South Africa and our instructors enjoy sharing their knowledge about paragliding. The main things that you will learn during a flight is how a paraglider take off, how to steer it, how lift is generated and how to land. We also offer paragliding courses on set dates, should you wish to learn to fly on your own your tandem paraglide flight will count towards your paragliding license.

How long are the flights?Flight time depends on the wind on the day, lift is created by the wind that blows up the mountain slope, stronger wind will allow us to fly longer and higher, no or low wind speeds will generate less lift so flight times will be shorter. Flight time from Signal Hill are usually between 5 and 20 minutes, we will keep you in the air for a long as possible during your booking timeslot to give you the best experience.

How can I receive photos and videos of my flight?We do take photos and videos during all flights, the pictures and videos will be transferred onto your cellphone after the flight by using an adapter. Every pilot has his own adaptor which he will connect to your phone and transfer all the photos and videos. Please come prepared with 2 to 3GB space available on your cellphone.

How can I get the the take off site?The easiest way to get to our site is by taking an Uber taxi to Sky Safari Paragliding (1 Signal Hill road). We will land at the Seapoint Promenade in Seapoint and you can leave from their. The parking is limited at the Signal Hill viewpoint but you are welcome to come with your car, if you arrive with your own car we will take you back to the top of the mountain after your flight.

Are paraglide flights from Signal Hill or Lions Head?We fly at Signal Hill and Lions head, but the site we fly at depends on the wind direction. Most of the flights are from Signal Hill (+- 90%), but when the wind is blowing at the right speed from the South West then we do fly from Lions Head. It is weather dependent.

Does Sky Safari Paragliding do site guiding and tours for pilots who are already qualified?Yes, contact us for advice on flying in South Africa. Sky Safari Paragliding also does group tours on set dates and do local site guiding for solo pilots. For more info check out our guiding and tours page.
