Landing

The flight concludes with a gentle landing at our designated landing area in Clifton, a picturesque spot along Cape Town’s coastline. Your pilot will expertly guide the paraglider to a smooth and controlled touchdown, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience. Whether it’s your first time or your tenth, the feeling of landing after such an incredible journey is always exhilarating. Many of our guests describe the landing as the perfect end to an unforgettable adventure, leaving them with a sense of accomplishment and awe.

Weather and Scheduling

Paragliding from Lions Head is a very weather-dependent activity, and understanding the conditions is key to ensuring a safe and enjoyable flight. The best weather for Lions Head paragliding occurs when the wind is blowing gently from the Southwest, creating the perfect updrafts for a smooth take-off and flight. Morning flights are often the most reliable, as the wind tends to be calmer and more predictable earlier in the day. However, Cape Town’s weather can change quickly, and our team constantly monitors conditions to ensure your safety.

If the wind is too strong, too light, or blowing in the wrong direction, we may need to delay, reschedule, or move the flight to our alternative launch site at Signal Hill. Signal Hill is located nearby and offers a more sheltered take-off point, making it an excellent backup option when Lions Head is not flyable. This flexibility ensures that you still get to experience the thrill of paragliding in Cape Town, even if conditions at Lions Head are not ideal.

The time of year also plays a role in paragliding conditions. Cape Town’s summer months (November to March) generally offer the most consistent weather for paragliding at Lions Head, with warm temperatures and steady winds. Winter (May to August) can also provide excellent flying conditions, but flights may be more weather-dependent due to the possibility of rain and stronger winds. Regardless of the season, our experienced team will always prioritise your safety and comfort, ensuring that flights only take place in optimal conditions.

To make the most of your experience, we recommend booking your flight early in the day to take advantage of the best weather conditions. If your flight is delayed or rescheduled due to weather, our team will work with you to find the next available time that suits your schedule. With our commitment to safety and flexibility, you can rest assured that your Lions Head paragliding adventure will be as smooth and enjoyable as possible.

What to Wear and Bring

To ensure your comfort and safety during your Lions Head paragliding adventure, it is important to dress appropriately. We recommend wearing comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing that allows for ease of movement. Closed-toe shoes with good grip are essential, as you’ll need to take a few steps during take-off. Sunscreen and sunglasses are a must, as the Cape Town sun can be strong even on cooler days. A light jacket or windbreaker is also a good idea, as it can get chilly at higher altitudes, especially during morning or late afternoon flights.

We also offer professional photo and video services to document your flight, so you can focus on enjoying the moment while we take care of the memories.
